The blazing red colors within this image are the natural color of a 5.69 carat Sunstone from the Ponderosa mine in Eastern Oregon. Oregon Sunstone has tiny copper platelets throughout the stone. These platelets along with the stones intense red color give the impression of glowing hot embers.
